JACKSON, NJ — Authorities are seeking the identity of a man in connection with burglaries of a pair of vehicles at Pine Barrens Golf Club that resulted in more than $6,800 in charges on a Toms River man's credit cards.
The burglaries happened Dec. 3 in the parking area of the golf club on South Hope Chapel Road, Jackson Police Capt. Steve Laskiewicz said.
One man reported his 2017 Chevy had been entered and more than $200 plus credit and debit cards were taken, Laskiewicz said.
The Toms River man went to Jackson police headquarters the following day, Dec. 4, to report the theft and burglary of his 2017 Honda, he said. That man also had more than $200 in his wallet and had multiple credit cards taken, Laskiewicz said.
The Toms River man told police he started receiving fraud notices from the credit card companies and was told his cards had been used at several retail stores for combined purchases exceeding $6,800, he said.
The cards were used to purchase items at Walmart in Brick and Toms River and at Target in Brick, Laskiewicz said.
"It appears that both vehicles had been left unlocked," he said.
The suspect vehicle is a Mercedes Benz SUV with a California license plate, Laskiewicz said. So far police have not been able to positively identify suspect through the California registration, he said.
Anyone who has information that might help identify the man is asked to call Detective Anthony Riso at 732-928-1111.
