Weekly forecast: A steady warm-up is expected this week across all of south central Texas. As moisture in the low-levels increases, look for some shower chances to the east and morning fog. High temperatures will climb into the 70s and lower 80s with overnight lows mainly in the 60s. Rain chances return for Friday night out ahead of the next cold front, which will arrive on Saturday. Here are the top 5 stories in Austin today: The University of Texas at Austin reports three people may have tested positive for the new omicron variant over the weekend. The three cases mark the first reports of the highly contagious variant in Austin-Travis County. (Austin Patch) An executive with an Austin-based auto dealership has been indicted for his involvement in the plot to kidnap and murder a man and woman in Tennessee. (KVUE.com)Austin ISD leaders on Monday hosted a conference to discuss a handful of proposals, including possible raises for all classified employees in the 2022-23 school year. (KVUE.com) Con Mi MADRE, Urban Roots and Science Mill each received $50,000 grants to focus on the advancement of underrepresented Austin communities. (Yahoo Finance) A Central Texas teen was indicted Friday in connection with June's Sixth Street mass shooting that injured 14 and killed a New York man, according to the Travis County District Attorney's Office.
