PASADENA, CA — The Pasadena Police Department will ramp up its DUI enforcement starting Wednesday as part of the national "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign. Additional officers will be on the lookout for any drivers suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The campaign runs through New Year's Day and encourages motorists to be responsible during the holidays and not drink and drive, the department said in a statement. "When it comes to consuming drugs and/or alcohol and driving, there is a right and wrong choice," Lt. Anthony Russo said in a statement. "Make the right choice by not driving impaired, so everyone is able to enjoy the holidays." In addition to the campaign, Pasadena police will also hold several traffic enforcement operations Friday. Officers will be searching for motorists who are speeding, running red lights and other traffic and pedestrian-related violations, Russo said. The department will also hold a DUI checkpoint Friday evening at an undisclosed part of Pasadena. "The safety of our community is and always will be our mission," Russo said.
