EXETER, NH — Exeter police, fire, and EMS responded to the Exeter Inn on Front Street on Monday for a reported stabbing. When responders arrived, they found a man was stabbed in what police said appeared to be a targeted robbery. Officers provided medical aid by placing a tourniquet on the victim until EMS rescue personnel arrived. Exeter police, with the assistance of several surrounding towns and the New Hampshire State Police, assisted in investigating the incident and searching for the suspect. The victim, who was a guest at the hotel, suffered a stab wound to his leg that was not considered life-threatening and was taken to Exeter Hospital for further treatment. It is believed that a firearm was displayed during the robbery, which occurred in the victim's room, according to Exeter Police Chief Stephan Poulin. Two men and a woman considered suspects fled the scene and have not been located. It appears the victim was known to one of the suspects. Following the incident, the victim managed to make his way to the inn's front desk to report the robbery and call 911. "This appears to be an isolated incident with a victim who wasn't chosen at random. It was a targeted event and we do not believe there is a threat to the public," Poulin said.
