CLEVELAND, OH — A 39-year-old Cleveland man has been identified as the man who was shot and killed by Cleveland police in a shootout shortly after Sunday's game between the Browns and Baltimore Ravens ended. Patrick Horton died in the shooting, the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office announced Monday, Cleveland.com reported. The shooting took place just after 3 p.m. on East 12th Street and Superior Avenue. No one else was reported injured in the incident, officials said. The police department has not released the names of the officers involved, Cleveland.com reported. Two off-duty police officers and several other people saw Horton walking down the street with a gun, which he was pointing at vehicles and firing into the air, according to the report. On-duty police officers approached Horton and told him to put his gun down. He initially complied, the report said, but then began firing at officers. Bullets hit nearby buildings, but no one was injured. "I think we're extremely lucky that it was not at the conclusion of the Browns game," Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams told reporters on Sunday. "We would have had a few thousand people on the street. And you know, it just shows the proliferation of guns in this country." A spokesperson for Cleveland police said that the department is expected to released footage from body-worn cameras within the next few days. Bullets shattered windows at several buildings, including the downtown headquarters of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, the report said. Police said no one was inside the building at the time of the shooting.
