CHARLOTTE, NC — The York County Sheriff's Office in South Carolina discovered why at least 2,000 people across the Carolinas are missing their mail.
They arrested two people last week after they discovered them dumping stolen mail in a South Carolina Walmart parking lot.
Jennings Peter Keziah of Charlotte, 34-years-old, and Tressa Nichole Baucom of Gastonia, 28-years-old were both charged with identity theft and mail fraud and could face more charges according to the department.
A passerby called police after seeing the pair tossing mail out of a car, and when law enforcement arrived they found a whopping 3,600 pieces of mail and 74 packages illegally obtained. Some of it goes back to November.
Law enforcement is working to get the mail back to the rightful owners with the United States Postal Service.
