Facilities Director We are looking for a dynamic, passionate leader to join our team at EF’s flagship campus in San Diego. As a service department within this popular and active campus, it is vital that the needs and expectations of our students and staff are exceeded and that all facilities are presented and maintained to the highest standards every day. The Facilities Director will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Facilities Department to include internal staff and independent businesses that conduct business on the property to inspect and maintain electrical, plumbing, HVAC, landscaping, and janitorial on the campus. You will collaborate with staff and residents to ensure safety protocols are followed, supervise technology staff, schedule routine preventative and reparative maintenance, plan new projects and perform emergency repairs. You will ensure janitorial, landscaping, and pool services are conducted on a regular basis and that the campus interiors and exteriors are attractive and hygienic. You will assess the costs of maintaining workspaces, make recommendations for becoming more efficient, and may assist in relocating areas from one space to another to best meet the needs of the business. You will ensure the budgetary targets for the department are maintained and work to hire and manage external contractors and suppliers as needed. What you’ll do: Have a comprehensive understanding of proper repair procedures for commercial units that provide power, water, and comfort to the campus. Be responsible and proactive for the management and maintenance of the campus facilities operations and all utility infrastructure systems. Manage various maintenance service and supply contracts and assists in administering a utility infrastructure system preventative maintenance program as well as renovation and construction projects for the campus utility systems. Supervise the performance of emergency and routine maintenance on campus facilities and enforces federal regulations governing environmental protection, the handling of hazardous materials and hazardous waste, and the use of chemical substances and materials Establishes continuously improving individual competencies, developing effective teams, motivating improved performance, and shaping the workforce the organization needs to accomplish its mission Who you are: Possess excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills to develop cooperative working relationships with campus clientele such as students, staff, and vendors. Be highly motivated, proactive, and positive, with an outgoing and confident personality with strong commercial awareness. Have a current working knowledge of the Uniform Mechanical and Plumbing Codes, National Electrical Code, and Title 24, California Building and Safety Codes, State and Federal Codes, local ordinances, APCD, and Pressure Vessel certifications requirements, along with other applicable codes. Possess knowledge of Title 8 Safety Order and progressively responsible skilled journey-level experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large, complex, and sophisticated heating, ventilation, refrigeration, air conditioning, and water treatment systems. Work confidently with maintenance and IT issues with a strong hands-on approach while enjoying working in a busy and varied environment Maintain a strong attention to detail and have the ability to work independently with strong decision-making skills, excellent communication, and people skills. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, be able to clear a Criminal Background and Credit Check and be fluent in English. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible, at-will position. The position is designated exempt under FLSA and not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday 7am to 3pm and will vary based on operational needs while overseeing and maintaining staff coverage Sunday through Saturday from 7am to 7pm.
