SPRAY TECHNICIAN (Jacksonville East) compensation: $450/week to start, benefits after 90 days, increased compensation commensurate with experience employment type: full-time JOB DESCRIPTION: SPRAY TECHNICIAN This is a great job opportunity for individuals who are passionate about Florida's outdoors to join a successful environmental services firm. The Entry Level Spray Technician performs herbicide applications on aquatic ponds, canals, wetlands and upland conservation areas. Our technicians become licensed applicators for herbicide treatments in wetlands and upland conservation lands within six months. Therefore, experience working with herbicides, a basic knowledge of the application equipment and aquatic plant identification skills are highly preferred, although we will train the right individuals. The ability to comprehend Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and manufacturer's instructions for the handling of herbicides is helpful. It is essential that applicants be able to follow concise instructions for mixing and applying herbicides safely and precisely. This position requires a valid, clean Florida Driver's License for the operation of various motor vehicles and equipment. Motorized equipment may include, but is not limited to, trucks, trailers, all-terrain vehicles, small boats, airboats, and other assigned equipment. This is a physical job in outdoor Florida conditions. Applicants MUST be willing and able to work under adverse weather conditions and with potential exposure to spiders, snakes, alligators, and other potentially harmful animals and plants. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent education Clean, valid Florida Driver's License Class E, for insurance purposes Able to pass a law enforcement background check and drug/alcohol screening Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Enough physical strength, agility and stamina to manage heavy field equipment (loads up to 50 pounds) for extended periods in rugged environmental conditions (most common are dense brush, wetlands, summer heat/humidity, mosquitos and other biting or stinging insects and rainy conditions) Current shift hours are 7am-3:30pm, Monday - Friday Must be able to pass State Pesticide/Herbicide Applicator Certification exam. Requires some mathematical proficiency. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Florida Certifications as a Licensed Herbicide Applicator for Aquatic Pest Control and Natural Areas Weed Management (Recent), or College Graduate in Environmental or Natural Sciences (Biology, Zoology, Botany) We OFFER: Starting pay rate is $11.25 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience Medical and dental insurance available after 90 days Paid holidays after 90 days Eligible for annual bonuses Eligible for Profit Sharing Plan after one year
