Yard Worker Beaverton, OR We are looking for a hardworking yard worker to monitor and maintain our elders' yards. In this role, you will be required to perform general landscaping duties, operate yard maintenance equipment and pressure washing driveways and walkways. To ensure success as a yard worker, you should have in-depth knowledge of pruning techniques, experience with mechanical equipment, and a good eye for detail. A yard worker uses their horticulture knowledge and landscaping skills to ensure gourds are always neat, tidy, and aesthetically pleasing. Principal Duties: Identifying and extracting weeds; mowing the grass with push mowers; weed whacking and edging lawn; trimming buses, small tress and shrubs; planting seasonal flowers and shrubs; pressure washing deck and walkways; raking leaves and sweeping walkways; cleaning rain gutter (1 story only); hanging Holiday lights, assist elders as needed. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position may require to lead volunteers. Interpersonal Contacts: Regular contact with seniors and volunteers. Specific Job Skills: Ability to follow instructions and be a team player. Able to work independently and/or with others and to deal well and professionally with public. Ability to work quickly and under pressure. Ability to show initiative and take responsibility. Ability to maintain a clean working environment. Must have problem solving skills. Ability to lift up to 25lbs. Physical capability of frequent lifting and bending. Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or GED. Previous experience as a yard worker preferred. Experience in operating mechanical landscaping equipment is an advantage. Detail-oriented. Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects. Good creativity and visualization skills. Working Conditions: Must be able to work outdoors under the following conditions (sun, rain showers, wind) with or without reasonable accommodations; working with various yard equipment including, but not limited to: pressure washer, lawnmower, weed whacker, leaf blower, rakes, hoes, and ladder; bending and lifting of approximately 25lbs; pushing various types of yard equipment; working under deadlines; working with elders at times. Work Schedule: 20 hrs/week; Standard work hours are Monday-Thursday 9am-2pm. May start earlier during Summer hours; must be flexible as determined by weather. Job Type: Part-time Salary: $20.00 per hour Schedule: Day shift Monday to Thursday Weekend availability (on occasion) Education: High school or equivalent (Preferred) Experience: Landscape maintenance: 1 year (Preferred but can train) License/Certification: Driver's License (must have own vehicle)
