Building HOPE Scholars: Pathways to Strong Student Outcomes The practice of medicine provides opportunities for positive interventions that advance the wellbeing of the communities in which we live and serve. The HOPE (Health equity, Opportunity, Pipeline, Education) Collaborative is an academic movement addressing the critical health equity needs of our students and communities in order to proactively confront enormous disparities in health and academic outcomes for those who have been traditionally excluded from medicine. The 3rd annual Impacting HOPE Symposium is a free event hosted by the Michigan Medicine HOPE Collaborative and Department of Surgery to address the most pressing social and advocacy needs of patients and neighboring communities. Who Should Attend: Faculty, trainees, students, staff, University of Michigan affiliates, community partners, and organizations interested in learning more, doing more, and collaborating for action-based programmatic development that will empower and engage the communities in which we live and serve. Symposium Agenda: Guest lectures, Panel discussions, Q&A sessions, Concert The Michigan Medicine Department of Surgery at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, MI is committed to providing expert, innovative, and compassionate health care while training the next generation of surgeon leaders and advancing biomedical research.
