Keyboard player needed

Description

Three-piece rock combo (guitar/vox, bass/vox, drums) seeks a fourth -- need a keyboard player who can do both “sweet” and “trashy.” We're currently gigging and getting songs together for our next EP. Normally we do like, two gigs per month, and we play at spots like OWL, Gutter, Bar Freda, house/DIY shows, etc., etc. Have been around for a few years, have been involved w organizing/promoting local DIY stuff for some time, have released music on a solid cassette label, get out of town (mostly tri-state area) on occasion. We were a four-piece before the pandemic and want to recreate a similar lineup, but not to copy the old lineup. We're playing some of the older songs still, but the arrangements are coming out differently than before, and that's cool, keeps things fresh imo The sound: Sort of a powerpop vibe, but a bit darker than your average powerpop band? Influences include ‘70s punk, ‘80s post-punk, British Invasion stuff, '60s girl group pop stuff, psych-pop, various present-day revivals of those things... Also are reacting to other local bands in garage rock/trashy pop kinda circles. It’s like, highly melodic with big punchy rhythms We practice about once per week, on a weekday evening, near DeKalb L, probably relocating practice space to Grand L area later this winter. We don’t do a lot of “jamming;” it’s more like one person will write a song and we’ll all arrange it and build it up. Wanna make the best use of everyone's time rather than spending endless hours in the practice space Don’t need a virtuoso player, although that’d be cool (lol). Just need someone with a good sense of melody and a knack for getting the hang of a new song quickly. Vocal harmonies are a big plus Posting on CL because we wanna cast a net wider than our own immediate social circles. Wanna reach across local scenes -- we’ve always been into that, it’s worked well, cross-pollination rules and it’s great for the creative brain We're committed to a welcoming and diverse music community, and to playing in and with bands that actually represent the audience. Booking diverse, inclusive bills is always a priority Things we like: catchy af songs, thinking about how to put weirdo/arty ideas into catchy af songs, actually setting and pursuing goals, having a laugh. Things we don't like: old-school macho attitudes, getting twisted *before* playing, Monday night gigs Hmu if this is sounding good! If it sounds like we're aligned, let's get in the same room together over in Bushwick and see if we're making the magic
