Description
I am a 40 year old dude from south jersey who has been songwriting for half my life. It is not my profession. I usually try to write psychedelic folk, punk and other more ambient songs.
Last week I believe I experienced some divine inspiration which led me to write my first rap song. Now, after an absolutely crazy creative explosion, I have 12 rap songs that are kind of fully developed.
They are all over the place musically (funk, Stevie wonder, kanye, snoop, John Lennon, the boomtown rats, and even Phoebe Bridgers and Courtney barnett). I even wrote a bluegrass/country/rap song, which sounds like it would be ridiculous but I think it really works.
I cannot rap. I cannot really sing either. My skill is just to write lyrics/ hooks/ and chord arrangements.
I am pretty amped though and I have no idea what to do with these songs now.
I never thought I would ever be able to write a rap song as I am not really experienced with hip hop, especially modern stuff. I really feel like something was leading me to get these thoughts onto the page as I just couldn't stop writing these 12 rap songs once the first one came out last week.
What do I do now? I need to get in touch with someone knowledgeable with rap to give me some direction. I know it is pretty competitive but I really think I have some gold here.
It is a concept rap album called "Digital Incineration". It has 12 songs. Themes include fear of technology, fear of the future, new religion vs old religion, manipulation, fear, and peace and love. I kind of just poured all my thoughts out into these songs.
It might be some very unique stuff. I just want to try to get something made before I lose focus and move on to another project.
