Music performances by India Sky and Zero Charisma +a special film screening Gather Under the Veil of Night for an evening of music performances by India Sky and Zero Charisma. Performances will be followed by a screening of an excerpt of India's film The Life Cycle of Rainbows which she recently completed while on residency in Scotland. Under the Veil of Night takes place on the winter solstice, and is in honor of the longest night of the year and the gift of darkness. It offers a space where guests can connect to their own life journeys, the cycles and wisdom of the natural world, and possibilities for personal and collective transformation and empowerment. We will have a bonfire after the performances and screening where guests can reflect on what they wish to release and call in moving forward as we approach the new year. All proceeds of Under the Veil of Night will go to Oakland Sol Revival, a Black run storefront, community space and urban farm located in Fruitvale. COVID Protocol: Masks required at all times as well as proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken no more than 72 hours prior to the event required for entry. The performers will not be masked during their sets. This event will be capped at 50 people. This event is $10 - $20 sliding scale, no one turned away for lack of funds. There are donation based tickets available. Please donate as much as is doable for you, if you want to donate more than $20 go for it! If you would like to volunteer (we need em!) please email [email protected]. All proceeds will go to Oakland Sol Revival. About the artists: India Sky India Sky's interdisciplinary art practice of film, dance, acrobatics, music, writing, and storytelling investigates the invisible forces of power, ancestry and spirit that shape her experience, and engages radical imagination as a source for transformation, communion, homecoming, liberation, and survival. Her work as a stage and film director, producer, choreographer and performer is guided by her passion for world making, and creating platforms that connect people to sources of power. Zero Charisma Zero Charisma loves you, wants you to close your eyes and experience the mystery and richness of the world and your inner world. With harmonic toes and reverberations, be here now. ACCESSIBILITY: Oakland Sol Revival is wheelchair accessible, however the back garden where the bonfire will be after the performances is not. If you cannot access the back garden and would like to add an intention or something to release into the fire, there will be someone who can deliver it for you. Topsy-Turvy Queer Circus organizes multidisciplinary circus arts productions that narrate queer stories and challenge and subvert traditional ideals of beauty, gender, sexuality and power.
