Roast of Mayor Lamar Thorpe and Fundraiser As Mayor Thorpe's first year draws to a close, a small group of #Karens--who didn’t support his bid for Mayor in the first place--are now trying to undo the will of the voters. Are we surprised? Hardly. We sent Mayor Thorpe to City Hall in order to upset the status quo--and, boy, are they upset! In less than one year, Mayor Thorpe has instituted some of the largest structural improvemnts in Antioch's history, from police reforms that banned chokeholds and finally brought body cameras to our police department, to expanding cannabis business and bringing jobs to our city, to increasing city beautification and cultural efforts through street landscaping and murals, to cracking down on dangerous sideshows, to apologizing to early Chinese immigrants for their mistreatment during Antioch's early years, which other cities have since modeled. Apparently, this is the type of behavior that puts a target on one’s back. Which is perfectly fine with us because we have Mayor Thorpe's back. He's made it crystal clear from day one--the days of a small group of special interests trying to manipulate City Hall were over the moment he was elected. Let's make sure Mayor Thorpe continues working hard on behalf of all Antioch residents, including those whose voices have been historically silenced.
