The Trent House Association presents a program highlighting William Trent’s Scottish heritage with Hogmanay, the traditional celebration of the new year in Scotland. Because indoor space is limited, this free program will be held outside if weather permits. Please pre-register on Eventbrite; pre-registrants will be admitted in order of registration if the program will be held indoors. All pre-registrants will be notified the morning of the event of the program venue and, if indoors, their admission status.
This year the program will feature Councilwoman Marge Caldwell-Wilson’s memories of the holiday as a child in Scotland and traditional songs played by Stacy Roth and Bob Dupré of History on the Hoof. Bagpiping will begin and end the program and Scottish treats will be provided along with warm cider and chilled eggnog. Visitors will be encouraged to join in signing Auld Lang Syne and burning written wishes for the new year. Free tours of the historic house will be available from 1 to 3 pm before the program.
