Description

With only 1k cases produced annually, Shypoke is a true boutique winery. Drink those wines and dine on gourmet fire-grilled stuffed burgers! Located in the Calistoga AVA, Shypoke exemplifies a boutique winery. Its highest-production wine is only eight barrels, while the majority of its wines are limited to a mere 3-4 barrels. This tasting is a rare opportunity to enjoy six high-end big red Shypoke wines, with founder/ winemaker Peter Heitz joining us virtually from Napa. And back by popular demand, event also includes a gourmet burger tasting presented by Rob Lauro, owner/ head chef of Go Stuff Urself fire-grilled stuffed burgers. The Heitz family’s dirt-to-bottle history began in 1904, when Peter's great-great-grandparents immigrated to Napa from Alsace. They were the first to use the name shypoke, an old folk word referring to water birds. Their old stone ghost winery still stands just west of Heitz Vineyard. The picking knife on the label belonged to Peter’s grandfather. It signifies the harmony of Shypoke’s farming and winemaking practices. Every wine honors the tradition of a family working together through five generations. Unable to attend? We invite you to hear Peter speak live via Zoom.
