SHOREWOOD, IL — A man injured himself late Saturday morning when he accidentally shot himself inside the Shoot Point Blank business in Shorewood, according to police officials. The man was taken by ambulance to St. Joe's hospital, and he is expected to recover, authorities said. The shooting happened shortly before 11:30 a.m. Shorewood Police Chief/Village Manager Aaron Klima said it was his understanding the man's gun malfunctioned and caused the accidental discharge. The man's injuries are not considered life-threatening, Klima said. Nobody else inside the business was injured, the chief of police told Patch. Saturday morning's incident marks at least the third time so far this month that an accidental shooting has left someone injured in the Joliet area. On Friday morning, a woman accidentally shot herself in the upper leg in Plainfield and was taken to a nearby hospital in stable condition, according to Plainfield Fire Chief Jon Stratton. The woman was taking the gun out of her purse to hand to someone in the car when it accidentally went off, Stratton told Patch. On Dec. 1, the Joliet Police Department said an accidental shooting happened behind a barbershop in the 1000 block of West Jefferson Street. The two shooting victims were driven to the St. Joe's hospital emergency room in personal vehicles, and their injuries are not considered life-threatening. The Shorewood Police Department is investigating a Saturday morning shooting inside the Shoot Point Blank business along the frontage road facing Interstate 55. John Ferak/Patch
