LOS ANGELES, CA — The suspected plan to rob a man in South Los Angeles was quickly derailed after police said a man fatally shot an armed man who was trying to rob him before midnight on Friday. Officers said three suspects approached a man in his 50s and attempted to rob him at gunpoint. Soon after, the four people became entangled in a scuffle, causing one of the suspects to drop a handgun, police said. The intended target was able to pick up the gun and shoot one of the three suspects, who was found dead at the scene. It wasn't immediately clear whether the man would face charges for shooting his attacker. City News Service contributed to this report.
