Experienced Guitarist in Search of Gigging Cover Band

Description

Exactly what the posting title says- I am a guitarist looking for a gigging cover band. A little about me: I am 40. I have been playing in bands since my late teens, and have experience playing almost all western styles of music- everything from R&B to black metal. I'm gainfully employed, have pro gear, and am equally comfortable playing through a tube rig with a big ol' pedalboard or a digital amp sim going directly into a mixing board. I know hundreds of songs already, and can learn new ones quickly. I am happy laying down rhythms or shredding crazy leads, and am very capable of doing both- I am also happy as the sole guitarist in a band, or working in tandem with another. I also sing, and can play simple keyboard parts. As for the kind of band I want to be in... I think it would be easier to say what I'm NOT looking for: I have little interest in playing the same 1960s through early 2000s top 40/classic rock that every other cover band plays, unless you're REALLY good and super-pro (like, phenomenal front people, pro stage setup, corporate gigs, and amazing players). I'm not looking to "play for fun"- I'm looking to gig and make some extra cash in the process. I'm open to joining a band that isn't gigging YET, but is close to doing so, and can easily get gigs once ready, so long as all of the pieces are in place- like, you have all of the necessary members and you're not missing a vocalist, a drummer, or a bassist. I'm also open to joining an established act where learning tunes is done as homework and rehearsals are minimal. Style-wise, I'd love to do some funk, soul, R&B, or hip hop. I'd equally love to play some 80s (especially if it's new wave, electro, funk, or post-punk), some metal, some ska, or some of the less-overplayed 90s alt rock. Yacht Rock (smooth rock from the 70s and 80s- think Doobie Brothers, Kenny Loggins, Christopher Cross, and co.) would be pretty sweet too. Just something other than the tired old stuff that your average bar band plays- though I do recognize that certain tunes are pretty mandatory, and I will play them with gusto while dying a little on the inside (see: "Sweet Home Alabama", "Don't Stop Believin'", "Brown Eyed Girl", etc.). Anyway, if you've stuck around long enough to read my short novel above, it means I've either pissed you off or caught your interest. If I sound like I'd be a good fit for your project, send me an email. PS- I can send samples of my playing upon request. As of right now, I don't have any high-quality videos of former bands/old performances (though it's out there, I'm sure- I used to play in a fairly successful 80s tribute when I lived in the Bay Area, and I'm sure some of it has ended up on YouTube), but I have plenty of crappy cell phone footage, and lots of decent-quality audio from original music that I've done.
