Please take a few minutes to scroll through all of the Found Pets at KC Pet Project if you, or someone you know, is missing their pet. The number of well-cared for, friendly, and social animals that pore into the Shelter daily is unbelievable. These pets clearly have a home that cares about them so WHERE ARE THEIR FAMILIES? The Shelter can only hold an animal for 5 days before it becomes available for adoption so do not sit back and do nothing if your pet is missing. Currently there are 176 dogs sitting in a kennel at the Shelter and 54 of these were found within the last 5 days. If you are unable to come to the Shelter in person you can view Found Pets on the website here https://kcpetproject.org/services/view-lost-and-found-pets/ or on the Found pet Trello board here https://trello.com/b/r61kg9Wz/kc-pet-project-get-em-home-found-animals If you dont see your pet you can file a lost report through the website and attach a photo so staff can be watching for them. If your pet is microchipped make sure that the contact phone number is valid. If it is not, and you dont know how to update it, please reach out to the Shelter. Microchips are useless if the information is no longer valid. Once a found pet enters the Shelter it will not be able to come back home on its own. Its only chance of being reunited with the family it knows and loves is an owner jumping into action to find it.
