Module 1 Course Objectives ( EMS CEU's given)
1. On completion of the course students will be able to:
i. Define Mass Casualty Incident
ii. List the three goals of mass casualty incident management
iii. Describe initial response actions and medical management of mass
casualty incidents
iv. Understand the difference between START and SALT triage methods
v. Triage simulated patients correctly using SALT and START algorithms
vi. Understand the critical need for casualty accountability
vii. Review Virginia Triage tags
Module 2 Course Objectives:
1. Upon completion of this course students will be able to:
a. Relate 5-Ss to Medical Branch and Medical Group Operations
b. Identify medical roles in the incident management structure
c. Describe the key roles in the Medical Branch and Medical Group
d. Describe the organization of the Medical Group
e. Describe basic responsibilities, tools, and tactics for Medical Group
positions
f. Identify the difference between the Medical Branch and the Medical Group
g. Identify the focus of Triage, Treatment, and Transportation Units
h. Perform duties in the Medical Group
