Description

Sustain the legacies of Grant Avenue Follies and Clarion Performing Arts Center by giving your financial support! The Dazzling Tiger Fashion Show & Luncheon will be held at the historical Far East Cafe, in San Francisco Chinatown. This fashion show is a fundraising event for Grant Avenue Follies and Clarion Performing Arts Center. Four renowned fashion artists, Colleen Quen, Victor Tung, Sheila Ash, and Anchi Li generously offered their presence and support. Colleen Quen is an internationally recognized and award-winning Couturiere. Victor Tung is Chinatown's wear-able art maker`. Sheila Ash is a fashion collector known for her eye-catching outfits that ranges from vintage-era to Burning Man. Anchi Li, jewelry designer, is known for his unique flamboyant style. Since 2018, Clarion Performing Arts Center and the Grant Avenue Follies have collaborated and supported each other in numerous community-driven projects. Grant Avenue Follies preserve the memories and continue the legacy of San Francisco Chinatown’s Nightclub era (1940-1960.) The cabaret troupe provides song and dance entertainment in senior homes and appearances to benefit charitable organizations. The Follies’ mission is to uplift the spirit of the elderly, the sick and bring hope and joy to the audiences in the Bay Area and around the world. Situated in the heart of San Francisco Chinatown, Clarion Performing Arts Center is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It provides an honorable and safe space for education and live performance opportunities for youth, adults and seniors. Artistic projects in music, poetry, theater and cinema are organized throughout the year to amplify the voice of Asian Americans, the marginalized, and the youth from low income/immigrant families. Together, the Follies and the Clarion have produced many memorable shows such as Murder at the Forbidden City Nightclub, Firecracker Burlesque, and most recently, the Gai Mou Sou Rap to stand against anti-Asian hate crimes and violence to elders. The Rap has gone viral with 82k views on YouTube and recently featured on Steve On Watch, a Steve Harvey Show on Facebook. Showgirl Magic Museum, curated and maintained by the Follies, has also established its home in the underground alcove of the Clarion. We invite you to be a part of the giving community that sustains the viability of Grant Avenue Follies and Clarion Performing Arts Center. Your presence at the Dazzling Tigers Fashion Show & Luncheon will give us much joy and energy. Clarion Performing Arts Center provides education and live performance opportunities by fusing music, poetry, theater and visual art as one organic artistic experience for individuals and communities.
