The 100 Black Men of Long Beach welcomes one of the world’s foremost experts in business, Dr. Julianne Malveaux, a public intellectual who was recently named dean of the new College of Ethnic Studies at California State University Los Angeles. “Dr. Malveaux is an economist with MIT so we’ll have discussions on ethnic studies and closing the wealth gap,” he said. “But we’re doing it more so to let the community know that African Americans are in positions of excellence in education.2. Toys and educational books can also be brought to the event. We need your support/donations to help fund our "Al Austin Sr. Scholarship". Since 2008, our Scholarship funds have financially supported our young African-American men to pursue higher education therefore a greater chance of success.3.Many of our Mentoring Alumni are successful in Hospital Administration, Corporate careers, Military, Entrepreneurs, Digital Media plus more. 100 Black Men of America (Who are We) The 100 Black Men of America began in New York in 1963 when a group of concerned African American men met to explore ways of improving conditions in our community. The group adopted the name, "100 Black Men, Inc." as a sign of solidarity. These visionaries were business and industry leaders such as David Dinkins, Dr. William Hayling, and Jackie Robinson. The 100 Black Men currently consist of over 116 chapters in the USA and worldwide.
