Press release from the City of New Port Richey: 2021-12-09 Pasco Florida Kennel Club Donates Pet Oxygen Mask Kit to NPRFD The New Port Richey Fire Department would like to express their deepest gratitude to The Pasco Florida Kennel Club for their generous donation of a new SurgiVet® Pet Oxygen (O2) Mask Kit. On hand to present Fire Chief Fitch the pet oxygen masks was Pasco Kennel Club representative Bonny Thatcher. Also pictured with Chief Fitch and Ms. Thatcher is the "A" Shift Crew at NPRFD Station 1. The kit includes 3 masks for providing oxygen to animals that are in respiratory distress during emergency situations, such as smoke inhalation when an animal becomes trapped inside of a structure that is on fire. The mask can be attached to a standard oxygen bottle fitting, allowing oxygen to be administered to the animal. Although the masks will be used primarily for dogs, they can be used on all mammals with a snout. Through the generosity of The Pasco Kennel Club, every emergency vehicle in the New Port Richey Fire Department fleet will have at least one pet oxygen mask amongst their inventory of equipment. *Close up pictures of the equipment and the model dog courtesy of emsstuff.com.
