Press release from the Town of Westport:
December 8, 2021
Westport, CT – Deputy Planning and Zoning Director Michelle Perillie has announced that on December 16, 2021 at 6:00 PM, the Planning and Zoning Commission(PZC) is holding a public hearing on a text amendment to modify the Zoning and Subdivision Regulations. The remote meeting will be held virtually via Zoom.
Text Amendment #806, submitted by the PZC, proposes to modify §31-3 to add the requirement that the finished side of the fence be installed facing the adjacent lot or street. The proposal includes an exemption for lot lines adjoining a non-residential lot or a lot line directly adjacent to wetlands. In those cases, the "unfinished" side of the fence is permitted to be facing the adjoining property line. Text Amendment #806 can be viewed on-line here.
Michelle Perillie said, "The Text Amendment, if adopted, will improve the aesthetics of the town by requiring that new fences be installed with the more attractive side of the fence facing outward toward the neighbors and street."
The December 16, 2021 public hearings will be live streamed at 6:00 PM on the Town's website at www.westportct.gov, and accessible on Optimum Government Access Channel 79 and Frontier Channel 6020. Comments can be sent prior to the meeting at [email protected] and interested parties may join the meeting virtually to offer live testimony during the meeting.
