Description
GREENFIELD, WI — The 60th Street bridge over Interstate 894 in Greenfield is scheduled to get a replacement in 2022, according to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation project website.
The current bridge was constructed in 1966 and various improvements have taken place over the years, with one of the most recent being a concrete deck overlay in 1989. Large areas of the current bridge, however, have distressed concrete, previous repairs are failing and the bridge's substructure is rated at 4 out of 9, according to documents presented at a public involvement meeting on Dec. 1.
The bridge's replacement will be similar to the bridge recently installed at 68th Street. Concrete supports will look much the same, a railing will be installed and the cross-street's name will be embedded into the parapet that overlooks I-894, presentation documents show.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Bob Dohr reports the $6.4 million WisDOT project is projected to begin in February or March and is expected to be finished in December of 2022.
Documents presented at the public involvement meeting on Dec. 1 show some of the 60th Street entrances to I-894 will be closed during parts of construction.
