Here is my political reality.

I appreciate those of you who read this hearing me out. When Trump ran for office in 2016 I was excited. I was excited to have a non establishment and non politician on the ballot. I was excited to hear Trump say he wanted to "drain the swamp". I voted for Trump for several reasons but these were the main ones. Ultimately, my excitement for Trump turned into disappointment. Several years into his first term, Trump was not trying to make good on his campaign promises. He did not drain the swamp. And he did not accomplish any actions while in office that benefited me, the small middle class business owner. I was not impressed with Trumps leadership and I resented that he was encouraging division within our nation. I also resented that he was not taking covid seriously. I had my doubts about the covid threat early on but took caution agains the unknown. I feel like Trump should have taken more measures to keep this nation safe until we had all the facts. In 2020, I wanted change. I voted for Joe Biden. Biden was by no means my first choice as president. I felt like he was a lazy do nothing VP. But I voted for him none the less because my theory is, when something is not working, change is in order. If I eat two bad meals in the same restaurant, I do not keep going back ecpecting better results. I go to new places to eat. This is how I felt at the end to Trumps first term. Several "bad meals", I wanted change. During his first year in office, Biden has made his share of mistakes. But overall, I am pleased. I would much rather a person/president make mistakes while trying to achieve progress than not work for progress at all. Biden has been a busy man his first year in office. So far, most of his efforts look like accomplishments to me. Time will tell. I am glad that Biden is a man who trying to fulfill his campaign promises. I am not convinced that all of his ideas are good ones but prefer any action to inaction. I remain optimistic that Biden will be a success. If he is, he will con tin to receive my support. If not, I will vote for change again in 2024. I realize many voters are too proud to adjust their views or cross party lines. Personally, parties mens nothing to me. I vote for who parallels my own agenda every election.
