Press release from the Colorado Springs Police Department: 2021-12-09 On Thursday, December 2, 2021, at approximately 8:55 P.M., the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) was notified of a traffic crash involving an SUV and a pedestrian in the 3000 block of Hancock expressway.  Responding officers found the pedestrian suffering from serious injuries. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Due to the seriousness of those injuries, the CSPD Major Crash Team responded to the scene to conduct the investigation into this incident. It was determined the victim was attempting to cross Hancock Expressway when he was struck by an older model, dark-colored SUV. The SUV then fled the scene westbound without checking on the pedestrian or contacting authorities. cspd_sample_blazer.jpg The picture is provided to show similar type vehicles. The Major Crash Team is asking for the community's assistance in identifying and locating the vehicle as well as its driver.  Based on evidence left at the scene, along with eyewitness accounts, the vehicle is described as a dark colored, possibly dark blue, 1998-2005 Chevrolet Blazer with damage to the area surrounding the passenger side headlight.  It is unknown if the Blazer is a two or four door model.  The pictures provided show similar type vehicles but are not the actual vehicle. It is asked that anyone who has information concerning the suspect vehicle and its driver to call the Colorado Springs Police Department at 719-444-7000.
