Press release from the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce: December 7, 2021 JOB SUMMARY The Charleston Metro Chamber is seeking a team member to join our Government Relations team to focus on the regions housing attainability challenges. In June of 2021, the Chamber brought together a group of 25 business leaders, nonprofit leaders, and government officials to build a long-term solution to combat the attainable housing crisis. After six hours of thinking, coordinating, and debating, the group came to a consensus on a series of action steps. The first step was to form a Regional Housing Coalition. The Housing Executive Fellow will be primarily responsible for leading and organizing the Regional Housing Coalition in a manner consistent with the policies and principles of the Chamber and the One Region Roadmap. The Executive Fellow will be working with the entire Chamber team, the One Region coalition and the volunteers who join the Coalition to advance the cause of attainable housing throughout the region. Measures of success will include increased public knowledge around attainable housing, increased supply of attainable housing across the region, and increased regional collaboration. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the creation, organization, implementation, and expansion of a Regional Housing Coalition.Lead strategic planning processes regarding the Coalition.Responsible for all administrative duties associated with Coalition activities.Coordinate outreach and sustained engagement with the Coalition, One Region, and other key stakeholders.Write content for Chamber website, electronic newsletters, publications, and social media channels regarding housing issues.Communicate regularly with the Chamber membership, Staff, One Region and the Coalition regarding housing issues and the progress of the Coalition.Track and analyze housing data and periodically report key assessments and findings to Chamber members, One Region, and the Coalition.Assist in public relations efforts, including working with the Chambers Marketing Department to support the housing attainability mission.Support execution of housing related programming and marketing.Submitting grant proposals for project-specific funding opportunities relative to housing attainability.Attend Chamber programs and events as needed.Support the Chambers and One Regions housing goals, initiatives and policies, working with appropriate Staff and Coalition members.Work to create cohesion among all stakeholdersMaintain understanding of the Chambers and One Regions goals and objectives.Other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Strong background in housing policy and/or housing development.An associate or bachelors degree OR 10+ years of relevant experienceAbility to organize and manage multiple priorities.Must have strong interpersonal skills and good judgment and be capable of communicating with a diverse range of individuals.Flexible attitude and is comfortable working in a fast-paced team environment.Excellent computer skills including all MS Office applications. (Word, excel, outlook, PowerPoint) required.Must have strong customer support orientation (for internal/external customers) and demonstrated professional demeanor.Experience in developing housing solutions that are equitable across low-moderate income communities.
