Press release from Hammond Academy of Science and Technology: December 9, 2021 HAST will continue with elearning Friday, 12/10/21. We are still waiting for air quality inspection report. I am very sorry for this inconvenience. UPDATE 12/6/21 Good morning! I am writing to inform you that HAST will be on elearning until Thursday of this week, at a minimum. The building is closed to all for the time being. The reasons for this are very simple:1) the building next to us is still burning 2) there are presently no fences or barricades set up to secure the site of the fire 3) we need to check the air quality INSIDE the school to be sure that it is safe for all….I don't yet have a timeline on that. I have had a few students (and staff) email me about going into the building to get their iPads. Please contact Mr Anderson directly. He and the cleaning crew can assist you. This is only for iPads. Mr Anderson's email is [email protected] Pick up times for students to go to the school will be today between 2 and 3 and tomorrow morning between 7:30 and 8 a.m. Again, please contact Mr Anderson BEFORE going to the building. He will do his best to have your item waiting for you. 12-5-21 Early this morning, the large brick building behind our school caught fire. That fire is still burning. For the safety of our school community, we are going to have a virtual day tomorrow (Monday) so that we can assess the situation and assure the safety of our staff and students to return to the building as soon as possible.
