ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police handled cases involving domestic battery, a neighbor dispute, retail theft, a damaged car, a bank scam, vandalism and a fugitive driver. Here is information from the latest police reports: Domestic battery Alton Marshall, 26, of Elmhurst, was arrested about 11 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Fellows Court on two counts of domestic battery. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, Marshall pushed a woman, causing minor injuries. Neighbor dispute Two neighbors got into a dispute about 6 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of North Adele Street. Both were issued no-trespass notices for each other's properties. Retail theft A man entered Elmhurst Food and Liquor, 416 N. York St., and stole two bottles of liquor. He drove away in a silver Nissan Altima. He was described as about 6-foot-2, having a thin build and short black hair, clean-shaven, and wearing glasses, a navy blue North Face brand jacket, light blue jeans and white gym shoes. Car damaged A car was damaged about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in a parking lot at 188 Industrial Drive. The victim told police a co-worker saw a man purposely and forcefully open his driver's door into the victim's car. The case is pending an investigation. Bank scam A resident in the 500 block of South Bryan Street told police Monday about receiving an email referencing a fee that was owed. The victim called the phone number provided and spoke with a person who remotely accessed the resident's computer. The suspect then appeared to manipulate the resident's bank accounts. The resident them shut down his computer to avoid any further tampering. He reported the incident to his bank, which the bank then froze. No loss of money was reported. Vandalism Graffiti was scrawled on the south exterior fence of a dumpster enclosure between Friday and Monday at Madison Early Childhood Center, 130 W. Madison Ave. School maintenance staff was able to remove the graffiti. Graffiti was found on the northeast corner of Jackson Elementary School, 925 Swain Ave. The vandalism happened between Friday and Tuesday. Someone cut the cord on the Christmas lights that were in a row of bushes in the front of a house in the 300 block of May. It happened overnight Sunday. Identity theft A resident in the 700 block of South Benton Avenue told police Tuesday that someone used his personal information to open multiple bank accounts. The victim placed a security freeze on his credit report and filed an identity theft report with the Federal Trade Commission. A resident in the 100 block of South Fairfield Avenue told police Wednesday that someone withdrew money from her bank account using a forged check on Nov. 15. The resident suspects a former employee with access to the victim's information may be responsible. Fugitive driver An officer tried to stop a car for speeding about 10 p.m. Tuesday at North and Interstate 290. The driver sped away, last seen heading east on North. Lost musical instrument A mother told police her daughter misplaced a brown wood finish cello while attending class at Jefferson Elementary School between Nov. 22 and Nov. 29. Driving violations Molly Guisinger, 41, of Crestwood, was cited about 6 p.m. Monday at St. Charles and Poplar on charges of driving with a suspended license, improper lighting and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He was released on bond. David Costenaro, 31, of Lombard, was cited about 8:30 p.m. Monday at North and Melrose on charges of driving with a revoked license, expired registration and speeding. He was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and people charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
