TUSCALOOSA, AL — Alabama State Troopers have identified a Northport man killed in a two-vehicle crash on Holly Springs Road Friday morning, resulting in his vehicle being submerged in Lake Tuscaloosa.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said Adam G. Baker, 34, was fatally injured when the 2011 Nissan Pathfinder he was driving struck the rear of a 2001 Dodge 1500 truck driven by a Northport man at approximately 5:05 a.m. Friday.
As Patch previously reported, the crash prompted a large emergency response, which including the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Dive Team.
"Baker then left the roadway and overturned into Lake Tuscaloosa," said Trooper Justin O'Neal, a spokesperson for ALEA. "Baker was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash, which occurred on U.S. 43 near the 208 mile-marker, approximately five miles north of Northport."
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
