A Christmas puppy?? Yes, please! Our livestock guardian dogs had 9 puppies and they are so precious! They turn 8 weeks old today and they are learning to protect our dairy goat herd and chickens. They have been playing daily with our many children so they are VERY well socialized. We really focus on hand-rearing each puppy to be attentive and sweet in temperament. They have been indoors and outdoors and are now spending time in the pasture each day, learning to care for the livestock. They are little bundles of puff and are delightfully sweet with our kids: infants up to teens. Great Pyrenees are excellent family dogs and the parents (Sadie and Bear) are so gentle with our children. They will do anything to protect our children, yet they will also protect our property and the goats. We recently had a coyote on the farm and Sadie ran to circle around our children and protect them while Bear ran to put the coyote down. They will do anything to care for our family! They shepherd animals very well, and even get along marvelously with our cats. These grow to be very large though, and so are best for homes with acreage (not an apartment). They go for sale on December 10 (today), and we will not hold any so that they can get to their new families soon!
