My apartment has an incredibly inefficient cheap gas furnace. In the winter months my utility bills jump over $100 monthly. I’ve done things I thought would help. Such as plastic over the windows and blankets over the doors. While I thought this would help, and it seemed like it did in the sense that it felt more comfortable and seemingly the furnace didn’t turn on as frequently. The fact is that it was more of a placebo effect. I’ve checked the WEenergies charts and graphs and there has been little marked improvement. My question is does anyone have experience and knowledge of electric space heaters? Will the upfront cost and electricity use be better then the horrible gas furnace? Any help and info from someone with more knowledge or past experience would be greatly appreciated.
