Job Description: Troubleshoot, repair, replace, install and verify the operation of Intelligent Traffic System (ITS) equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, Dynamic Message Signs, Roadway CCTV Systems, Traffic Signal Systems, Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) Systems, Fiber Optic Conveyance Systems, Loop Detection Systems (wired and wireless), Microwave Vehicle Detection Systems, Wireless Ethernet Microwave Radios, Gigabit Ethernet, Serial Servers, etc. Minimum Requirements: • 5+ years minimum experience in electronics • A basic understanding of communication applications and theory • Ability using a Personal Computer & Microsoft Office Applications • Clean driving record • Pass a Pre-employment drug screening • Ability to occasionally work at heights up to 60ft • Ability to lift up to 50lbs • Ability to climb a ladder • Ability to work outside under dynamic weather conditions • Must be a "Team Player" and able to work with others • Willingness to accept and carry out both verbal & written instructions from supervisors Opportunities you will have: • Additional training to fulfill duty requirements listed below and participating in educational opportunities. • Troubleshooting and repair of Dynamic Message Signs [DMS] from various manufacturers including Skyline Products, Fiber Optic Display Systems (FDS / SES), Daktronix, etc. • Troubleshooting and repair of CCTV roadway monitoring systems. This includes control signals, field and central equipment operations, RG-59 (coax), video waveform signal interpretation, etc. • Maintaining Freeway Traffic Management [FTM] systems. Includes inductive loops, radar sensors, microwave sensors, etc. • Gigabit Ethernet systems and Asynchronous Transfer Mode [ATM] systems including switch principles, OSI layer understanding, etc. • Fiber optic systems. Experience can be gained by utilizing Optical Time Domain Reflectometers, Power Meters, Light Sources, Light Pens, Cleavers, Fusion Splicers, Splice Enclosures (above & below ground), Fan-out Kits, and Connectors in order to troubleshoot and repair damaged fiber optic cable. • Verifying and troubleshooting installations by testing with signal level meters, power meters, light sources, detectors, etc.; preparing and studying block diagrams; checking voltage, current, resistance and signal levels at block diagram and schematic test points; using software programs. • Documenting installations by diagrams, notations & adjustments. • Maintaining safe work environment by following safety rules; taking safety precautions; following proper disposal methods. • Maintaining test equipment by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; coordinating with supervisor for repairs. • Troubleshooting Multiplexers, low-speed communications (subrate), ATM Switches, Video Encoders/Decoders, Terminal Servers, RS-422 and RS-232 signaling, basic CCTV concepts, broadband communications and wireless networking.
