Screen Lock on Samsung Phone Cant Remember Pattern

Does anybody know how to unlock a phone without erasing all the data? I put a pattern lock on it a while ago but need some things in it and of course I can't remember it. Metro PCS says they can't help me but I know for a fact they helped me before with the same issue. I think it is ridiculous that the carrier cannot just help me out. I find it hard to believe that nobody has access to their phone ever without having it all erased. What would be the point of gaining entry to an empty phone. Ive already had 2 more phones after this one but I need some pictures and texts. If anyone knows how to unlock this hit me up please.
