Benchmark Construction is looking for a Field Technician/Project Inspector to perform a variety of Construction Materials Testing and Inspection, which includes testing materials on the job site, while also learning the inspection side of construction. This position works in both the indoor and outdoor environments, year-round. Job training and certifications will be provided. Prior industry experience (ODOT preferred) is ideal but definitely not required to apply. Please do not disqualify yourself. We are looking for a Technician/Inspector that will learn Materials and Inspection through on-the-job training and will work under a seasoned Inspector. They will be assigned as Norman staff but living around Norman is not a requirement. Conditions of Employment: • Must have a clean driving record (minor infractions not considered) • Must maintain a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License • Must have an operable cell phone • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. on and off throughout the day • Must be able to work in varying weather conditions Responsibilities Field Services • Respond to requests from home office lab for materials sampling and pickup • Respond to requests from clients for materials testing at job sites • Perform materials tests per job specifications and maintain test logs • Manage sample locations and pick up samples when appropriate • Upload test reports of tests performed in the field in a timely manner • Manage yourself and your truck with minimal oversight Inspection Services • Review and interpret plans/specifications to ensure project is correctly built • Measure and calculate areas and volumes of work performed • Work closely with contractors to acquire proper documents • Work as a middleman between an Engineer and the contractor • Accurately record contractor work and pay items • Generate a pay estimate bi-monthly Skills (not a disqualifier if missing) • Experience in a relevant or supervisory position • Prioritize and complete daily tasks accurately • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel • Using various computer programs • Using time tracking software • Ability to work alone
