These classes are excellent for drummers of all levels. Beginners will certainly find it doable, Intermediates & Advanced will learn too! If you're looking for an in-person drumming class close to you, easy to get to for most, and solid instruction on the basics to more advanced techniques, this is for you. We will be working from the traditional rhythms as played in many countries of West Africa taught to Alan, our teacher, for over 40 years by some of the greats like Famoudou Konate, Mamady Keita, Bolokada Conde, the great Wadaba, and even Nansady Keita. Whether you are beginner level or advanced, Alan easily knows how to teach multi-level classes giving beginners the real way to play djembe, good techniques, relaxation, and speed. Advanced drummers get to be helpful to the not-advanced and have plenty of opportunities to play solo and the hope to play the dunun (African bass drums) crucial to completing each rhythm. Good energy, individual focus, and help so you won't feel lost at all. We will meet on 8 Friday evenings at The Munroe Center for the Arts 1403 Massachusetts Ave.; Lexington, MA 02420
