Description
Join us on Sunday. February 20, 2022 from 3-5pm at the Wareham Opera House for a special afternoon just for you! Fathers can dance the afternoon away with their little girl(s) and make a memory that will last forever. We’ve even seen grandpa’s bringing their loved ones. Fathers, Uncles, Grandfathers, or anyone with a special girl is invited to spend an afternoon full of music, dancing, refreshments, desserts, photos, and more! The Flint Hills Volunteer Center is driven by its mission of connecting volunteers to the needs of our community. We are a clearinghouse for all things related to volunteerism and provide a strong network for organizations in the area. With a database of over 1000 volunteers, we are making a difference in our communities. Our core programs are: RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program). RSVP is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and over. Schools of Hope provides quality academic mentors that make an influential difference in a child’s life. The program’s volunteers provide an invaluable resource of literacy intervention for K-3 students in USD 383. Youth Volunteer Corps utilizes team-based, service-learning volunteer opportunities for youth ages 11-18 as a conduit to teach workplace readiness skills, enhance academic performance, inspire a lifetime commitment to service, and address the needs of recipient nonprofit organizations. Veterans and Families. Providing volunteers to assist with active duty soldiers and their families. Student Volunteers represent various majors at Kansas State University, Manhattan Christian College, and the Manhattan Area Technical College. Volunteer hours are needed for academic scholarships and class requirements. Corporate Volunteer Program where employees are allowed flex time to donate an hour to volunteering. 2019 New Core Programs: Suicide Prevention will utilize trained volunteers to educate the community on risk factors for suicide, along with the interventions available for help. Opioid Epidemic will utilize trained volunteers to educate the community on drug addiction while providing resources for proper medication disposal. Elder Justice will utilize trained volunteers to educate the community on elder abuse, neglect and financial fraud and scams that target our nation’s seniors.
