Ham Radio Technician Training & Testing Please, review the required course training materials prior to the start of the class. Training Materials (Right click and open the link in a new tab) This course is being held over two Saturdays. To complete this course and take the exam, attendance is required for both days. Dates: January 15 & January 22 Times: 9:00a to 4:00p on January 16 9:00a to about 2:00p on January 22 (Testing begins immediately after the course) Becoming a licensed amateur radio operator enhances your communications capabilities. For CERT, receiving the amateur radio license will be required for the response group on the communications team. This course focuses on commonly applied knowledge of the radio. It does require some work on the part of the participant to study ahead of the class as key components will be touched upon. The first day (January 15) is focused on academic instruction. On the second day (January 22) testing will begin after the completion of the class. Results from testing are given the same day. Activation of the license will be within a few business days after testing. To enhance radio skills, we have the weekly CERT Net Check-ins that you will be able to participate in after receiving your license.
