Description

Join North Wyldewood for a Norse-pagan ritual to celebrate the Yuletide! Join North Wyldewood for a Norse-pagan ritual to celebrate the Yuletide! Of Scandinavian and Germanic origin, Yule is a time of community-building through gift-giving and joyous feasting. In ancient times, festivities began with Mothers’ Night (Mōdraniht) and continued for roughly 12 days. Outside of the halls, the Wild Hunt (a ghastly cavalcade of otherworldy beings, including the dead) rode furiously on the icy winds, while those inside shared food, drink, and the comfort and protection of community. Our Yule will be a celebration of our NYC community, with light feasting, singing, and optional gift-giving. We will be holding our Yule festivities indoors at Ripley-Grier Studios in Manhattan. Capacity is very limited due to Covid restrictions. We urge you to place your ticket orders early, especially if you are planning to attend as a group. If you have any questions about the event, please reach out to us early. We would love to celebrate Yule with you in circle, and to toast in honor of the Norse Gods. Join us for this holiday season ritual and celebrate with: ✨ Experiential Magic 🔮 Divination 🥧 Feasting - We will provide light refreshments/finger foods to share after the ritual! 🎁 Optional Secret Odin Gift Exchange! For the Optional Gift Exchange: As Odin tells us in the Havamal, ‘a gift looks for a gift,’ so if you want to receive a gift, you must bring one as well. If you’d like to participate, please bring a wrapped, gender-neutral gift, under $20. COVID-19 Venue Protocol: Ripley-Grier Studios requires proof of vaccination and valid photo ID for entry. Attendees are required to show photo ID downstairs and sign in at the front desk of Ripley Grier, as well as show proof of vaccination when you arrive at the ritual room, so we recommend arriving at 5:15 to ensure the check-in process runs smoothly. In addition, all attendants will be emailed a North Wyldewood COVID-19 screening form (as well as important meeting location and contact info details) that must be returned prior to attending the ritual. If you are purchasing a ticket for someone else, please include their name and email in the order so that they will receive the event confirmation and all future correspondence. Please bring: - Proof of vaccination & a valid photo ID (venue requirements) - A face mask for public areas - A chalice or drinking cup - An extra non-alcoholic drink of your choice for toasting (we suggest apple cider!) - A journal and pen or pencil - Optional: A wrapped, unisex gift, under $20, for the Secret Odin Gift-Giving Please note: This event is open to ages 18+. Again, we urge you to purchase your tickets early--at Samhain we had a flurry of early reservations and then, the day before the event, a second wave of people who wished to attend as well. Space is very limited, so please plan accordingly. We look forward to seeing you! Blessed Yule.
