CarverMuseumATX presents our annual Kwanzaa Celebration featuring Ujamaa Marketplace with Black-owned businesses and Black Vendors!
CarverMuseumATX + Six Square Presents Ujamma Marketplace & Kwanzaa Celebration, Wednesday, December 29. This year’s event will spotlight the 4th day of Kwanzaa Ujamma “cooperative economics” with a Buy Black Vendors’ Outdoor Marketplace from 4-6 pm followed by our community celebration from 7-8:30 pm in the Boyd Vance Theatre.
At the celebration, guests will learn about Kwanzaa through songs and dance with Elizabeth Kahura. Austin Firefighter Darren Hyson will serve as our Kwanzaa MC.
Through the preservation and exhibition of African American material culture, history, and aesthetic expression, the Carver Museum works to create a space where the global contributions of all Black people are celebrated.
We accomplish this by telling stories about our local community and connecting those histories to larger narratives about Blackness.
