Farm to Table Lamb Dinner at the Historic Lovill Inn Bed and Breakfast Saturday January, 29th at 4:00pm, Sun Raised Foods is hosting an 5 Course Farm to Table dinner featuring local lamb from Sun Raised Foods paired with wine from Fine Wine Trading Co at the historic Lovill House Inn . This will truly be a culinary experience, and opportunity to learn about the history of Appalachian State University and tour the Lovill house Inn where the state charter for AppState was written in 1903. The Lovill House Inn recently underwent a major renovation and won the Sustainable Project of the Year award from the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association. Guests who would like to book a stay at the Lovill House Inn for the weekend of January 28th and 29th can receive a $50 discount for booking both Friday and Saturday night if attending the dinner. The Lovill House Inn has 6 guest suites and a separate cabin. Accommodations are available on a first come first serve basis. When guests arrive we will have a complementary drink for you while you tour the Lovill House and its grounds, while learning about the history of the area. Dinner will be served at 5pm. The historic lovill house was built by Captain E.F. Lovill in 1875 and the Lovill Family lived there for 100 years. The property was converted to a Bed and Breakfast in the early 1990's and has become the first luxury Bed and Breakfast to be able to operate off of the electric grid using the installed solar microgrid. MENU First Course: Charcuterie board featuring two types of dry cured Sun Raised lamb salami, regional cheeses and accoutrements. An Organic Wine paired by Fine Wine Trading Co. Second Course: Rustic Lamb Chili using Sun Raised Foods Ground Lamb Ancho Chile, heirloom tomatoes, red bell pepper, topped with spicy scallion crème fraiche An Organic Wine paired by Fine Wine Trading Co. Third Course: Lamb Curry using Sun Raised Foods Lamb Shoulder Chops Sweet Potatoes, cilantro, golden raisins, shallots, coconut milk, massamon curry, lemon grass, and ginger. An Organic Wine paired by Fine Wine Trading Co. Fourth Course: Seared Lamb Risotto using Sun Raised Foods Lamb Leg Steaks Shiitake mushrooms, oyster mushroom risotto, black trumpet mushrooms, Arborio rice, mascarpone, asparagus An Organic Wine paired by Fine Wine Trading Co. Fifth Course: A delicious baked dessert prepared by Lovill House Inn Chef Ann Alexander COST The five course farm to table dinner experience paired with 5 different wines (or beers) will be priced at $125 per person plus Taxes and Gratuity. The remaining amount will be charged at the end of the dinner CHEF The dinner and recipes will be prepared by Chef Will Bayrd, currently the Chef at Mamma Ricotta's which has been voted the best Italian restaurant in Charlotte. SUN RAISED FOODS LAMB Sun Raised Foods is a Cornelius based company working with farmers across North Carolina and Virginia to raise Animal Welfare Approved (AWA) lamb on the pastures of local solar farms. The lamb for the January 29th event will come from the Montgomery Sheep Farm located in Biscoe N.C. less than 70 miles from Cornelius. During the dinner, Sun Raised Foods will provide interesting information about the farm, the lamb, solar energy and local agriculture. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase bottles or cases of wine which they liked through the Lovill House Inn. Sun Raised is a gourmet purveyor of American lamb and charcuterie products made from pasture-raised lambs grazed on local solar farms. We work with a network of experienced farmers throughout the state who raise Animal Welfare Approved lamb free of antibiotics and hormones.
