Born in Ayacucho, Peru, he began learning wood carving from age nine as an apprentice to master carvers. Later Fredy trained with the Peruvian Ministry of Culture in the conservation of diverse objects of art circa 1500s-1700s. Today, based in Erie, Pennsylvania, Fredy carves contemporary sculptures and classical ornamental pieces for private clients as well as public art commissions. Fredy consistently maintains a high level of experience and professionalism, thus he is also a nationally recognized woodcarver teacher. In August 2021 he was hired to teach Ornamental Carving at the prestigious Center for Furniture Craftsmanship in Maine. Enthusiastic feedback from his students prompted the scheduling of more classes beginning in the summer of 2022.
