We will decorate cookies, enjoy savory snacks, read books, and meet new friends! Join us at Parkway Central Library for family-friendly holiday cheer! We will gather for cookie decorating and light dinner snacks. Families will leave with their own decorated cookies to enjoy! Ms. Becky from the Children's Department will share book titles and lead read alouds. We will also have games and crafts for guests to enjoy for a SWEET family get together! Please let us know of allergies and food sensitivities when registering or by emailing kitchen @ freelibrary.org. We look forward to decorating, reading, and being with you! ____________________________________________________________________________________________ In ensuring a physically distanced and safe event, we have limited tickets available. We thank you for understanding that due to space limitations, tickets canceled within one week of the program are not eligible for a refund. Free and discounted tickets are available for SNAP eligible families and any families who request a sliding scale. Safety is our top priority. According to current guidance from the city of Philadelphia, it is required that all in-person attendees, regardless of vaccination status, mask for this indoor event. Please take extra precautions if unvaccinated. Here’s ours: The Free Library is advancing literacy in Philadelphia in a unique and innovative way—with a fork and a spoon. Cooking and eating are educational acts and provide opportunities to learn math, science, languages, history and so much more. Using cooking as the vehicle for learning, the Culinary Literacy Center advances literacy through food and cooking around a communal table. Opened in 2014, the Culinary Literacy Center is the first space of its kind in a public library and serves as a model for libraries worldwide. The Culinary Literacy Center is based in our kitchen classroom at Parkway Central, but we offer programming at nearly all of our neighborhood libraries.
