TAMPA, FL — A standoff with a 17-year-old who barricaded himself inside a Tampa home ended peacefully Thursday afternoon when he surrendered to police after brief negotiations. According to Tampa police, the 17-year-old got into an argument with a juvenile male at a home in the 6600 Block of North 23rd Street that escalated into an attack in which the 17-year-old battered the juvenile, then grabbed a gun and threatened to shoot him, causing family members to run outside the home and call police. After the 17-year-old surrendered, police discovered the gun was fake. He was arrested and charged with trying to strangle the youth and resisting arrest.
