Description

SALEM, MA — Beverly and Salem are teaming up to help keep Styrofoam out of area landfills this holiday season. While Styrofoam cannot be recycled curbside, the cities are working with Save That Stuff, which has densifiers that can process the material so it can be recycled. The free collection open to Beverly and Salem residents will be a drive-thru event on Jan. 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Salem Community Life Center on Bridge Street. Only rigid white Styrofoam will be collected at this event. Food containers, cups and packaging peanuts are not eligible for recycling at this time. "We're excited to offer residents a way to sustainably dispose of all the Styrofoam they may have received from the holiday season," Salem officials said.
