Milwaukee DA Clears Wauwatosa Police In Woman's Shooting

WAUWATOSA, WI — A Wauwatosa police officer was justified in a December 2020 shooting of a woman, according to the Milwaukee County District Attorney's Office. The ruling came in the shooting of Tinesha Jarrett on Dec. 10, 2020, by Wauwatosa Officer Amanda Hodgson. Jarrett was wounded in the shooting but later released from the hospital. Jarrett wasn't charged in the incident. The shooting took place after police responded to a report of an assault in the 7900 block of Harwood Avenue, according to Abby Pavlik, the public information officer for the Wauwatosa Police Department. A woman was "violently attacking a female victim with a stick" in an apparent random attack, Pavlik said. The woman ran up to the officer's car and struck the windshield with a wooden post, Pavlik said. The woman refused to comply with the officer's commands and "advanced on the officer with the wooden post," Pavlik said. "The officer was forced to shoot the subject. Despite being shot, the woman continued her aggressive and assaultive behavior, striking the police vehicle with the wooden post numerous times. Several responding officers were required to take her into custody," Pavlik said.
