Stamford Police Investigating Catalytic Converter Thefts

STAMFORD, CT — The Stamford Police Department said they are investigating "persons of interest" who may be involved in the thefts of catalytic converters in Stamford. A black Chevy SUV with a New Jersey license plate of K99PRR was seen in the area of Cove Road in Stamford's East Side around 1:15 a.m. Wednesday. Sgt. Sean Scanlan said a catalytic converter was taken on nearby Orange Street recently. "Our patrol division spotted the car and when they approached, it took off at a high rate of speed," Scanlan said. Scanlan added that there is one confirmed catalytic converter theft in the last five days. Anyone with information is asked to call the SPD's Property Crime unit at 203-977 4407.
