Truck Driver Hospitalized In Overnight Lakemont Crash

BELLEVUE, WA — A serious crash in the Lakemont area left the driver of a box truck with serious injuries and caused traffic disruptions in the area lasting into Thursday morning. Bellevue police arrived at the intersection of Lakemont Boulevard and Southeast Newport Way just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, after the truck crashed through a power pole. Pictures from the scene showed significant damage to the front of the truck, and police said the driver suffered serious injuries and required hospitalization. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. UPDATE: The Lakemont Blvd/SE Newport Way intersection has reopened but is operating as an all-way stop as crews work to install temporary traffic signals.
